THE LDF

Wakefield’s Labour-led Council have put forward LDF plans to turn our greenbelt into another housing development we don’t need.

They are pushing through a planning application to turn one of Horbury town’s last green fields into yet more houses.

Richard said:

‘I will continue to work with my Conservative colleagues from the District to fight these plans so we can preserve our area and protect our environment.’

Horbury Lagoon

The Council has neglected our community and allowed areas, such as Horbury Lagoon, to become run down. Horbury Lagoon has much potential to become a place for families to go and enjoy our area. Richard believes areas like this should be maintained so they can provide a local, environmentally friendly and fun day out for all the family.

If elected, I will fight for better funding for all Horbury’s green areas and will campaign for better community facilities.

St Georges day / St Georges cross

For the last 2 years your Conservative councillors have help arrange a St Georges day parade through Horbury, as your Conservative candidate, this is something which i fully support, and if elected, I will work vigorously to ensure that this continues into the future.

Both events have been hugely sucessful, and this year we were lucky enough to have the bands fire in the fishbowl and padded cell performing live on stage, as well as archery, hockey and a fun fair.

I hope that this continues and we residents of Horbury get to celebrate our patron saint for many years to come.

I am pleased to see that your Conservative councillors were sucessful in their attempts to get the Union flag put back up outside Horbury town hall, our national flag should be flown outside our civic buildings, not taken down to satisfy the pc brigade.

Illingworth park

I was pleased to hear that former Cllr Alyson Ripley had secured funding for a new play area at Illingworth park, the children of the local area will finally have somewhere they can play with brand new equipment.

If elected, i will not only continue to fight for Illingworth park, but for all the parks and play areas in Horbury and South Ossett.

Co-Op Bank

When the Halifax announced they were going to close down their bank in Horbury, which was the last bank in Horbury, I fully supported the 3 Conservative councillors in their attempt to get a new Co-Op Bank on Horbury high street.

After petitioning and numerous emails back and forth, it ws finally announced that a Co-Op Bank would be opening this year, with work well under way, the new bank and 24 hour cash point should be opening very soon.

As well as local business’ and my father relying on a bank in on the high street, the new bank will also stop the cash point in the Co-Op being constantly busy, and will stop the current problem of the cash point running out of money towards the end of the day.

If elected on 7th of July, I will fight hard for all residents of Horbury and South Ossett, I will especially work hard to help the most vulnerable residents, specifically the youngest and elderly residents.

I believe places like Primrose hall are vital to the community, and I will fight not only to protect such facilities, but to create more. There are difficult choices being made by the Conservative led coalition government, but these were urgently needed to clear the mess the last labour government left the country, but even in such dificult circumstances, i will fight with all my might to protect these much needed social venues from the Labour controlled council.
